PurrMiles privacy notice

Updated 25 October 2026

Who provides PurrMiles

PurrMiles is provided by Constantin E. Tivlica, using the FieldOps name. For privacy questions or support, contact support@fieldops.uk. PurrMiles is intended for adults aged 18 and over. This notice covers the app and optional support. Websites and services you open separately have their own privacy information.

Your records

PurrMiles keeps a work and mileage log on your phone. Depending on what you use or enter, this includes your profile and vehicle details, shifts, odometer readings, precise GPS points and accuracy, routes and stops, address labels, classifications, notes and job references, income, expenses, receipt references and correction history. It also stores settings and the name and hardware address of a paired Bluetooth car you select. You decide what to record and how to use or share your local business logbook. We do not receive or remotely access that logbook through an app server. There is no PurrMiles online account or automatic cloud logbook service in this version. The app does not include advertising, analytics or crash-upload services.

Location and your choices

With Android permission, location can show your position on a map. During a shift you start, precise location records routes, mileage and stops, including when the app is closed or not in use. Take a break or finish the shift to stop recording. Existing open shifts can resume or recover under the phone’s controls. You can keep manual records without location access and change permissions in Android settings. Acknowledging the location notice does not start a shift or enable online services.

Online maps and address labels

Both services are off until you choose them separately in the app. Online maps send connection information, including your IP address, and the viewed map area through tile, font and image requests to OpenFreeMap, provided by Hyperknot Software Kft., Hungary. Its published privacy explanation is at https://openfreemap.org/privacy/.

Automatic address labels may send saved journey endpoint coordinates to the address service supplied by your Android device. This can include old entries while PurrMiles is running, even without a new GPS permission. The provider depends on your device; its own processing, location and retention rules apply. These requests travel directly from your device to the external service; they do not pass through a PurrMiles app server or upload the whole logbook. The recipients are the map service and its delivery/security providers, or your device’s address-service provider. They may process requests outside the UK. OpenFreeMap identifies its provider in Hungary; that does not establish every server’s location. The device’s address provider and processing locations vary. Their published privacy information and device settings explain their handling; we do not promise UK-only processing or a common provider deletion period. Turn either service off in Help & privacy → Data to prevent new requests; requests already sent cannot be recalled and saved labels remain. Manual records and GPS mileage work without these online services.

Storage, copies and deletion

Records stay in private Android app storage, with no separate app-level database encryption. Android automatic app backup is disabled. User-created backups are password-encrypted using AES-GCM. CSV, GPX and PDF exports are readable files; their destination may be a cloud drive. Original receipt attachments and separately saved copies remain where you selected them. Protect your phone, files and backup password; we cannot recover that password.

There is no automatic logbook deletion schedule. Entry deletion is recoverable and retains GPS and correction history. To remove the local app records, finish recording and use Android app settings → Storage → Clear data, or uninstall. This does not remove exports, backups or original receipts saved elsewhere. Keep records only as long as needed for your purposes and applicable obligations; the app does not decide a single legal retention period for all users.

Our responsibilities and support

We are responsible for the support information we receive and for how PurrMiles arranges its optional map and address requests. We rely on legitimate interests in providing the particular optional functionality you choose and useful, secure support. Requests are limited to the information needed for those functions, with no advertising profiles. Both online services remain optional, with manual alternatives and controls to stop new requests. This basis does not authorise unrelated uses of your records.

Sending a support email is your choice; the app opens your mail app and does not automatically send your logbook. Send only the details needed, avoiding passenger information and sensitive attachments. We use information you send to answer and resolve your request. The FieldOps team and our business email service, Microsoft 365, handle support correspondence. We review it when the request is resolved or necessary follow-up ends, remove information no longer needed and remove unnecessary identifying attachments sooner. If limited records must be preserved for a complaint, security incident, legal obligation or legal claim, we record the reason, responsible team member and review or release trigger. This is not a promise of automatic deletion of every provider copy. Handling privacy-rights requests may also be necessary to meet our legal obligations.

Microsoft’s commercial data-processing terms include the 2021 Standard Contractual Clauses and UK Addendum for covered international transfers. Support information may be processed outside the UK. See https://www.microsoft.com/licensing/docs/view/Microsoft-Products-and-Services-Data-Protection-Addendum-DPA or contact us for relevant safeguard details. We do not claim these Microsoft safeguards apply to OpenFreeMap or your device’s address provider.

Your business use of records may carry responsibilities to people whose information you enter or share. Android permissions and feature choices do not establish a lawful basis for every business use. Depending on the processing and applicable conditions, you may request access, correction, erasure, restriction or portability and may object to processing based on legitimate interests. Contact support@fieldops.uk about information we hold; local records can be viewed, corrected and exported within the app. You can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at https://ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint/.
